Throwback Thursday is a weekly feature here on Never Too Fond of Books. Each week I’ll highlight a book I remember fondly from my childhood- sometimes with a mini review!
Feel free to participate and post a link to your Throwback Thursday post in the comments!
Original Release Date: 1986
Title: Kristy’s Great Idea (BSC #1)
Author: Ann M. Martin
Summary: Kristy thinks the Baby-sitters Club is a great idea. She and her friends Claudia, Stacey and Mary Anne all love taking care of kids. A club will give them the chance to have lots of fun-and make tons of money.
But nobody counted on crank calls, uncontrollable two-year-olds, wild pets, and parents who don’t always tell the truth. And then there’s Stacey, who’s acting more and more mysterious. Having a baby-sitters club isn’t easy, but Kristy and her friends aren’t giving up until they get it right!
I adored these books as a kid! I’m pretty sure I never read all of them (there are over 100!), but I sure made a dent in the pile. I reread the first 3 of the series this past December – talk about a blast from the past.
Scholastic started re-releasing the series in 2010, so I hope a new generation can fall in love with these like I did!

Aw yeah, a perennial favorite… I borrowed mine from an older girl down the street

I can’t remember where I got my copies. I’m guessing the local library. I don’t remember actually owning them- I just remember reading them A LOT.

I loved the BSC! In fact, I was in some kind of club thing where I was sent all the new BSC books. I have no idea where they all went, though.
