Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by The Housework Can Wait and Never Too Fond of Books!

It’s the nature of book blogging to focus mainly on new releases, but there are thousands of great books out there that haven’t seen the “New Releases” shelf in years. We hope to be able to bring attention to some older titles that may not be at the top of the current bestseller list, but still deserve a spot in your To-Be-Read pile.

You don’t have to be a book blogger to participate! You can put up a Throwback Thursday post on your non-bookish blog, or if you don’t have a blog at all, just use the comments to tell us about a book you remember fondly.

Here’s how it works:

Pick any book released more than 5 years ago. Adult, YA, Children’s; doesn’t matter. Any book will do.
Write up a short summary of the book (include the title, author, and cover art) and an explanation of why you love it. Make sure to link back to The Housework Can Wait and Never Too Fond of Books in your post.
Link up your post at The Housework Can Wait or Never Too Fond of Books.
Visit as many blogs as you can, reminisce about books you loved, and discover some “new” books for your TBR list!

Title: Sideways Stories from Wayside School
Author: Louis Sachar

Summary: There was a terrible mistake-Wayside School was built with one classroom on top of another, thirty stories high! (The builder said he was sorry.) Maybe that’s why all kinds of funny things happened at Wayside-especially on the thirteenth floor.

I read this one over and over too. That seems to be a pattern in the books I feature here! Eventually I outgrew it, but for awhile there, it was definitely my favorite book. There were all sorts of hijinx and shenanigans going on! If I remember correctly, it was one of the first comedy books I read.

Definitely one I hope young readers are still finding and enjoying.

I LOVED this book, and the sequel. I’m like you – I outgrew it eventually, but for a while there, I just kept reading it over and over and over. I’ll need to get this one for my kids in a couple years.

I remember this book! I think almost every teacher I had in elementary school read it to us. I hope they still do! Awesome throwback!

I think I was in the 6th grade when I first read it? And I’m pretty sure I read it in school. I *definitely* hope they still do that.

I loved this series so much! I recently bought a brand new set to give to my cousin as I’m sure he will enjoy them as much as I did,he’s a huge Diary of a Wimpy kid fan, so it seems right up his alley!
