Feature and Follow Friday 1.11.13

featured-blog

The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

This week’s features are ME and The Haunting of Orchid Forsythia

Thanks so much for allowing me to be featured this week!

Q:  If you could choose one supernatural being/creature to really exists what would it be and why? ex. fae { submitted by @SeeingNight }

I have always wished witches existed. I have always wanted to be a witch. Witches with power to move things with their minds and cast spells. Witches like the Charmed ones. Or like the covens from The Iron Druid Chronicles or pretty much any witch folklore out there that doesn’t portray them simply as evil, petty women.

I will be the first to admit that some of that wish is because I want power. But that’s not the only reason – it would be amazing to have the ability to help people with super powers. C’mon, who wouldn’t want that?

Friday Feature and Follow 6.1.12

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

This week’s features are Books of Love and Sinnful Books

Q: You are a matchmaker — your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

I would pair Zoey Redbird (House of Night) with Atticus O’Sullivan (Hounded). Both are powerful in their own way, and both have very strong connections with the earth. And they both have wicked tattoos.

It doesn’t matter to me that he’s 2,100 years old and she’s only 17. He looks 21 so it’s not hinky.

You can follow me via RSS (click the handy button in the top of my sidebar), Like my Facebook Page, or follow me on Twitter.

Of course, I’d love it if you did all three. :)

Friday Feature and Follow 5.25.12

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

This week’s features are Underworld Love Addiction and Charissa Books

Q: Activity! Dream cast your current read.

I think my brain just exploded.

My current reads are Hounded by Kevin Hearne and The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross. I’m not very far into either of them!

Okay, okay. I’ll do The Girl in the Steel Corset.

I’m going to have to agree with Miss Kady Cross herself – Emma Watson would make a perfect Finley Jayne.

Coming up with a suitable Griff is far more challenging. I know he’s supposed to have red hair, but the only red headed actors I could think of were entirely too old (Kevin McKidd) or just completely wrong (Rupert Grint/Seth Green). So I picked James McAvoy instead. He’d make a pretty perfect Duke.

I should probably also cast Jack Dandy, but I’ve only met him once and can’t possibly do him justice.

You can follow me via RSS (click the handy button in the top of my sidebar), Like my Facebook Page, or follow me on Twitter.

Of course, I’d love it if you did all three. :)

This week’s features are The Fake Steph Dot Com and Books Galore

Q: This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother’s Day, in celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

Good grief this is a toughy. In most of the books I read, parents are virtually nonexistent. If I think back to the classics, there’s always Anne Shirley and Marilla Cuthbert from Anne of Green Gables. That relationship evolved into something that was really very lovely.

Paige and Savannah from Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series also stand out to me. While not a blood relationship, they formed a strong bond.

This week’s features are Ali’s Bookshelf Reviews and The Housework Can Wait

Q: What is one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?

First, I have to ditto what Parajunkee said. Completely and wholeheartedly.

Second, I can’t narrow it down to a single favorite author. So here’s a short, not exhaustive, list.

  • Kelley Armstrong: I’m so sad you’re ending the Women of the Otherworld series, but I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
  • Rachel Vincent: I really really hope you write more about Faythe. I love your other series, but nothing compares to Faythe and Marc.
  • Michael Grant: You’re an evil genius. That is all.
  • LJ Smith: Please please release Strange Fate already. I’ve been waiting for that book for well over a decade.

This week’s features are Book that Thing! and Little Read Riding Hood

Q: Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then “broke up” with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.

Nash Hudson.

Oh, my dear Nash.

Really, I’ve said all I need to say to you in my open letter.

For those who don’t know who Nash is, he’s from Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series. And he was the perfect boyfriend in books 1 and 2. But in book 3, it all gets shot to hell.

I hope he redeems himself, but I haven’t read any further in the series yet (if you have, PLEASE don’t spoil me!)

This week’s features are Word Spelunking and Amy’s Book World

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

I think I’d pick Cassie, from L. J. Smith’s The Secret Circle (books, NOT tv show), and Hermione.

As much as I love Hermione and her book smarts, I think Cassie would win. She has more friends to give her strength, plus her natural abilities are just amazing; Hermione was fabulous, but she constantly had to have her head in a book to be as awesome as she was.

Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

Oh boy, this is a toughie. Book-to-movie adaptations are often awful, so it’s hard to decide which ones to risk it for. There have only been a few that, to me, were worth the adaptation (Harry Potter and Narnia are the two that first spring to mind). That being said, I think I would never want to see any of Cassandra Clare’s books turned into a movie. Which is sad, because I’m pretty sure they’re in talks for the Mortal Instruments series. I just don’t think a movie could do the world building justice.

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

Not specifically no. I’ve never seen a book that interested me that has gotten exclusively bad reviews – generally it’s a mix. And when that happens, I end up all the more curious about the book. Grave Mercy is a great example of this – many folks I follow didn’t even finish it – but so many more raved about it.
